Vintage signed pastel study after a 19th-century composition depicting a spaniel & pug

Vintage (circa. 1960s) signed artwork depicting a black spaniel and a fawn pug, executed in soft pastel or chalk on paper. The compositionsigned with the artist's initials, is based on a late 19th-century English School portrait of the same subject, faithfully capturing the gentle expressions and character of both dogs. Presented in a dark oak frame with a contrasting black inner slip, the artwork has a classic country-house aesthetic. The reverse retains the original framer's label for W. Davis & Sons, Edgbaston Street, Birmingham.
