Pair of 1950s yellow, red & turquoise embroidered barkcloth curtains, 42" x 47"

Pair of original 1950s embroidered barkcloth curtains, featuring an unusual geometric checked design in yellow-green, red, turquoise and black. The fabric has a fantastic textured weave, with a black grid design punctuated by raised red and turquoise embroidered motifs. The contrasting threads create an almost hand-worked, nubby texture that gives the fabric much more character when viewed close up. The wonderfully bright colour combination and simple geometric pattern have a distinctly 1950s modernist feel, while the shorter drop makes these particularly well suited to a kitchen, breakfast room or smaller window.
